Super Bowl XLIII

Baldy and I had our first REAL Super Bowl party this year! We made ribs, hot wings and little smokies in BBQ sauce. Everyone else brought a snack or side dish. I was so nervous about the food not turning out. It was our first time cooking ribs, they turned out great! Our friend Sally brought over her Digital LSR, and I was having a good time with it. Here are 2 that I took that I absolutely love, there is one missing that I will have to post later. I think I need one! There hasn't been any editing BECAUSE I don't have any of that software on my mini! Enjoy!

P.S. I'm still a little upset that the Steelers won it.

Junior's Graduation

Bald's youngest brother, Junior (Benjamin), graduated from Universal Technical Institute. Everyone is really proud of him. He had perfect attendance and was on the Instructor's and Dean's list in several of the courses!
Meet Bald's parent's! His Mom, Paula, and his dad, Pilo. Those aren't their real names, but I don't know how to spell them. I can never get him to give me a serious smile!

New path

For all of you that don't already know this, I'm taking a Pharmacy Technician class online. I love it so far! I'm learning so much and I'm kickin butt on the exams! I still have a TON more to learn before I get my certificate, but it will be a great new path in my life.

Well, this past week has been ok. Baldy is up in the snow, so I'm here by myself ... with Adam of course ... but he's so busy with basketball and school that he doesn't usually get home til about 9 pm. I don't know what I'm going to do for Christmas if he's still up there. I'll probably go to his parent's house and help make TAMALES!! She only makes them twice a year ... once for Al's b-day & Christmas ... and they are so good!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, everyone!

November

Bald and I were able to make a visit home together! Thanksgiving was a busy day and I don't have any pictures of it. So Shelle, if you want to send me some, that would be great.

My 2 aunts and I, Katy and Shelle, hit up the outlets at midnight. There were tons of people, but good times with those 2! We pulled an all-nighter. Then Bald and I had to go pick up D and Ju Ju to go out to my Dad's. I ended up sleeping there for about a total of 4 hours. A little here, a little there. It was fun. Oh, and Ju Ju's girlfriend also came out with us. She's a cute girl, but pretty quiet. That night we went to my uncle's house. I threw Bald a little surprise party there, his birthday is on the 28th! He was a little overwhelmed, but we had a good time.

Saturday night Bald and I took Beau-nizz to see the lights at Temple Square. She's so stinkin cute and she always makes me smile. She wouldn't smile for the camera when I would take a picture of her, but she would smile for Bald. Then I let her take some pictures to see if that would warm her up to it, and it did. After the lights, we stopped and got a scoop of ice cream. Beau-nizz killed her first scoop, so we got her another one for the way home. She ate a little over half of it before she didn't want anymore. Then I looked back there about 5 minutes later and she was out! When we got back to the house, Knoxy was still up and played with Bald and his hat.

Sunday, it was time to go home. So we stopped by a couple of houses to say good-bye. I didn't want to leave! But we had to!! I'm glad that we got to go. It was a good trip. For those of you I didn't get to see, I'm sorry I didn't have more time to see all of you that I wanted to see.

Catch up

First of all, I'm sorry it took me so long to post. I was just being lazy. I know, I know...I'm home all day and could find some time to post. I tried a few weeks ago, and I couldn't get it to show my full picture that I wanted it to, so I got pissed and just quit. Now, I'm going to try and post at least once a month! I'm saying that just in case I don't meet my real goal of once a week. So, here's a little run down of what I've been doing since June.

July-nothing to spectacular. For the 4th, we went to Bald's friend's in-law's house. It was fun, there was a pool and a HUGE backyard to play in. On the 11th, Cedric and Tasha were married! Congrats to them! And around the end of the month I went to San Francisco with Sally, her friend Valarie, and Chase. It was so much fun. We wanted to go to Alcatraz, but they were sold out for like 5 days in advanced. So we settled for a boat ride that went under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz. We rode the cable cars and just toured the city. It was just an over-night trip, but it was fun!

I spent a lot of time with Sally and Chase this summer. It was a lot of fun, and nice to have someone to hang out with and get to know better.

August-Wow, I can't remember what we did that month! But I do remember that I went home at the end of the month, for the family kampout!! I got there a couple of days before the kampout and went to watch my baby brother play baseball. He's a good little pitcher and I can tell that he really loves the sport. And he's pretty good (don't tell him I said that)! The 3 of us, D, Ju Ju, and I went up on Saturday morning and stayed til Monday. It was so much fun, even with the rain. I guess it was just nice to see all the family. Then I had to come home.

September-The first week, I was still at home visiting. I don't remember much from that month either. I know we, Bald and I, went on a drive to Quincy. It's a beautiful drive. You follow a river almost all the way up. We spent a few minutes in the town, and then came back home. Nothing else too exciting happened....that I can remember!

October-The first weekend in October, the National Yo-Yo Championships were held here in Chico. We stopped by and watched for a bit. It's crazy what some of those kids and adults can do. We also saw the kid that was on Ellen there! And then at the end of the month, we carved some pumpkins! Our first pumpkins together! They turned out pretty good considering we didn't have the right tools for them and we were using old steak knives! Bald did an alien head and I did a skull!

So, there you have it. Our super exciting lives!! Sorry there aren't any pics. I didn't want to have to wait for them all to load. I'm a little impatient with technology these days. I will try better to get more pics up.

Friend's Trip '08

Bald and I on the harbor cruise
Some of the fishing boats that were docked

You call this sand?? It's more like gravel to me!
Sally was mad because Zane kept skipping her! It was a little excessive I have to admit!
Fern Canyon...
Oh my gosh it was so pretty there. They actually filmed some of Jurassic Park II there. It was pretty cool. I would definitely recommend going if you ever have the chance...just don't drive a car. You have to go through 3 streams to get there! But my car made it!

More Fern Canyon. The ferns are just growing on the walls.

Banana Slug...I heard that you can lick them and they taste like bananas. But I didn't want to try. Sally tried it back in the day...so I will just believe it.
More ferns.. A trail that the boys found when they were exploring.
Bald on an old tree stump in front of a very large Redwood.
This was Big Tree. This picture doesn't show the true size of this thing. It went on forever. I swear I couldn't even see the top

The coast at sunset. The fog would come in too early to get a nice sunset picture, but these 3 are still beautiful.

The towns little old church.

On the last day, we walked down to the beach to check out the tide pools. It was so pretty and there were some interesting things. At first I was like what the heck are these glob things. Then I found out that they were THESE....
They contract when they aren't in the water to protect themselves and also to keep in the moisture.
Lots of starfish...and more globs!

Happy Birthday to Me!

I had a great day and a great weekend. I'm getting so OLD! I'm 22 years older than my youngest cousin right now...and he's probably not the last either!
Ubaldo bought me a new phone for my birthday! I really like it, BUT BlackBerry is coming out with a newer one that I think I really want. I have 30 days to decide if I like this one or not. So, hopefully it will come out before then and I will be able to check it out. Oh, and it will be in my given price range!

Grampa Ty and Grama Viv also sent me a card...with the traditional $2 bill that they have continued since the passing of Grampa Champ. And a gift card!
Grama Barbara sent me a plant. Hopefully I don't kill it!
Grampa Roger sent me a card and some cash!
My dad started a USB flash drive with all the pics that he had of me. I really enjoyed that. I will have to post some of them on here!
And thanks to everyone who called and text! I love and miss you all!

Fire in Paradise

There has been this awful fire in Paradise, CA. It's only about 15 minutes away from Chico. I looked out the window this afternoon and this is what I saw. A huge smoke cloud. It looks so dark and gross. Funny thing is that you can't smell the fire in the air. I always remember being able to smell the fire in Salt Lake when there wasn't a fire too close to the city.

Organization....what is that??

What is wrong with this picture? Well, this is supposed to be the office. Where the computers are on desks and the boys can talk about cards all they want while they are playing. Apparently it has become the "JUNK ROOM." Not only that, but the beer room, the locker room, the drink room, the poster room, the hotel storage room and last but not least...a sh** hole.
In this first picture I would Like to point out a couple of things...
  • The poker table that we just HAD to get from Jake's house. The one that never has been used at our house.
  • The FIVE boxes beer 3 Early Spring Beer and 2 Summerfest below the ESB
  • The basketball bags that are there for???
  • The case of water UNDER the bags
  • The wonderful carpet cleaner that needs to go back to my Auntie, but I love it so much....and I forgot it last time I visited Utah.
  • Can you see the corner desk?? Me either. It's the one on the far left of the photo...it's covered with Ubaldo's work clothes. I don't know why they can't go in our bedroom.
  • The only things that are mine...the 2 clear storage containers...that are usually in the closet, but I took them out to find something and never put them back!
  • Finally, our paper towels and shredder.
Moving on....this is the other side of the room.
  • The "BEER FRIDGE"
  • Empty boxes of beer
  • Empty card box from Christmas
  • Empty copier paper boxes
  • Blue cups
  • Tin foil
  • Adam's desk.
  • My mirror
  • JUNK, JUNK and more JUNK. Oh yes and more empty beer boxes

Adam's desk again...showing the MESS of discs and empty Gatorade case. Do you think I need to get the boys moving on now what has become their junk room?? I do.

And this is...wait a second....how did this get in there?? Another story for another time!! It could be my mess, but where??!

Kangaroo Zoo

My mom and I took Morgan, Jace, Aidan and Beau here while I was visiting. They had a lot of fun. There aren't a whole bunch of slides there, maybe 5 or 6, but they still enjoyed themselves for a couple of hours. They even had 2 little play areas for kids under 4 and one for kids 8 and under. Beau liked those the best because she could do it herself. The other kids loved the biggest slide. Their faces were priceless!! We even talked my mom into doing it!

Dustin's Graduation!!

It's official, my little brother has graduated. Congratulations Dust!!
P.S. Thanks to Kalli for the fabulous idea, everyone LOVED it, as they did Zack's!!

Beau, Z's Graduation & Quail Lake

I drove down to St. George and took Beau with me. Katy, Grama Viv and Knox went down in Grama's car. Zack graduated on the Friday before Memorial Day (sorry no pics, but there are some cute ones).
I'm glad that Kalli asked me to come a little early and hang out! We had a wonderful time sleeping on the floor while Grama was on her bed...talking til 4 in the morning!! And creating more wonderful memories with Gram Viv!!
On Memorial Day I went to the lake with Kreg, Mindy, Kalli, Zack, Haylee, Klayton and Slayde. Kreg and Mindy just got some sweet new JetSki's! I had a good time and wish I could do it more often.

Weekend in San Luis Obispo

This last weekend we went to visit my cousin that lives in Templeton, CA. She lives about 25 minutes from the coast, so we took a quick trip over there. This is at Pismo Beach. It was so windy and cold so we didn't stay long. But over all, it was a good trip and we both had a good time!

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!

Well, I have had this wart that sits on the underneath of my wrist. It's right on a patch of eczema. As you know, eczema is dry skin that itches. I scratched and scratched, eventually scratching the wart and spreading it to my forearm. I was inspecting my arm last week and discovered that I had about 5 little warts on it. So, I was ready to get them off. I was tired of scratching and spreading them. I asked Bald if he would go with me to the store to get something for them. It just so happened that he was in the middle of an online tournament. I have recently noticed that ever since I started living with Bald and doing pretty much everything with him, I have a hard time going to the store by myself while he is home! Anyway, Adam, our roommate, just happens to have a Do-it yourself wart freezer that he purchased. I didn't really want to spend all the time driving across town just to chicken out on buying it myself. So, he talked me into letting him do it. It wasn't too bad at first, just a little sting. It was pretty easy going. I let him do all the spots instead of just one. The next day, I had 1 pretty small blister, and 1 huge blister (sorry no pic). The directions said that could occur. Me, being me, couldn't leave the one alone so i put a tiny hole in it. It just wouldn't stop calling my name and just asking me to do it. So I did. And boy did it feel better. Then yesterday while I was drying my car, I scraped the blister off the smaller one, oh man did it hurt! So, this is the aftermath. It didn't hurt right after I did it or even the next day. But for the past 3-4 days, it's been painful. Here is the wonderful after pic that I took today!!
Update: Today my arm is feeling almost back to normal!

This is For Grandma Viv!!

Weekend Fun!

These are just some pictures of us shooting skeet. Eric came up for the weekend to go to the Gun Show with Ubaldo and Jake. We ended up shooting for the day on Saturday and they went on Sunday.

Not A Whole Lot

Not much has been going on. Ubaldo was up in the snow for 15 days, and that wasn't much fun. I was mostly a hermit. But now he's home and we are back to our normal lives!
This is a typical night at Apartment one-two-seven!! The boys playing cards and watching movies!
While Ubaldo was in the snow, he grew out his beard. The snow and wind hurt his face. So when he got home he thought that it would be "Hilarious" to go with the Miami Vice "stache". It's not a very good picture. I thought that he was going to shave it, but NOPE, he decided that he needed to keep it for a bit longer! As of today he still has it!!
And this is just a covered bridge that we found on one of our drives. Not too far around that turn it's all dirt road, so he decided to turn around!

1.09.2008

Snow Time!

So, that horrible storm that hit Northern Cal...
Bald had to go to the Sierra Nevadas to do chain control on I-80. Which, the weather was fine the first night. Then the second night is when it hit Chico. It was SO BAD. I thought that the wind was going to blow a tree or something bad on to my car. But luckily it didn't. We lost power in Chico for FOUR days!! After the 2nd day I had enough, so I went to Truckee, CA. That's where Bald was staying. The drive there was awful, but having power was SO nice. I stayed there from Sunday through Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning, when Ubaldo got back from his shift, we went for a drive. Lake Tahoe is only like 30 minutes away. The lake is HUGE! I couldn't believe it. We didn't get a chance to go to the other side because of the road conditions and Ubaldo needed to sleep before his next shift. But it was beautiful. I only got a couple of pics because it was FREEZING!
This is just a quick shot of the hotel we stayed in, Hampton Inn.
Cute little snow pose.
Cute little beenies!
Lake Tahoe from the McDonald's parking lot!

Our first Christmas tree

This is our tree....thanks Mom. It needs a little something more. Maybe some ribbon? But it's good enough for our first one.

Bald thought that it was funny to take this picture because I was cold.

Time with Beau

On my last day there, I went and got Beau. I took her to my Arriola Family Christmas party. She was looking cute as ever with her little piggies. She had a great time playing with all the little kids there. There were about 4 or 5 kids that were her same age. She was like the Energizer Bunny, I thought for sure as soon as I took her home she was going to crash...YEAH RIGHT! She had to show me all her new tricks that she had learned and did pretty much anything so that she didn't fall asleep. I love that little girl and all of my other cousins!

Dad & Me

I spent a few days with my Dad. We went to see Beowulf in 3D. We had a good time. Then we went shopping for a star for him to put on his flag pole. It turned out really nice. I had a good time with him, it was just too cold for me outside.
Do you love our glasses??

Temple Square

After the party, Kalli and I went to see the lights at Temple Square. It was FREEZING! We took some pictures, but we were too shy to ask people to take our picture, so we only got one of the two of us. You will have to ask her to see it.

Kolb Christmas Party

This year, I think we all had a fantastic time. I was really happy that I was able to be there. I enjoy being with my family. It was so fun to see everyone...especially the Canadian Kolb's. All of the kids are growing up sooo fast, I can't believe it. Love and miss you all.
Here are some pics of us decorating cookies.
Notice Kaela has her fingers in or near her mouth in almost every picture!!

Taylor had something to say.

Beau also had something to say!

Adam bought a Wii.....YAY!

So, this is what the 3 of us were doing last night at 10:30 p.m. Adam and I were up til 12:35 a.m. Ubaldo went to bed at about 12. It's fun and comical to watch!!

Ubaldo's new baby

This is Ubaldo's new love.....well, I guess it's mine too. 55" of television. We also upgraded to a DVR. It's SOOO nice. It's just like being back at Bart & Katy's...minus the cute kids that they have.

Sierra-Butte Lookout Hike

Ubaldo and I went hiking with Eric and Lindsey over Labor Day weekend. It was a freaking hard hike, but I made it to the top. It was so beautiful. You can see 100 miles in every direction up there!! The red arrow is where the hike ended. There is a little lookout station there. No one was up there, but it sure was amazing that they could build a structure there! Hope you enjoy some of these pictures.

Becca & Nick's Reception

August 4, 2007
Rebecca and Nick got married!!! It was a very nice wedding and reception. Here are just some pictures of family. I forgot to charge the battery in my camera so there aren't very many.
Beth, Mal & Tera
Kerrie, Jace & Duane
Jim & Grama Barbara
Mom & Troy

Bowling at Fat Cats!!

August 3, 2007
Kalli and Haylee came up from St. George for a little visit. So, while they were staying at Grama and Grampa Kolb's, the girls had a little sleep-over!! Kalli and I just mostly talked to Grama & Grampa while the other 4 ran around. I went to pick up Ubaldo from the airport and when I came back, we all went to bed. It didn't mean that everyone went to sleep though!! Kalli and I stayed up talking until 3 a.m. It was just like when we were little. I remember just laying there talking for hours. And the other girls; Kassidee, Kaela, Haylee and Addy, they slept in the family room. Haylee and Addy didn't go to bed until 2:30 a.m. Crazy girls. So, on Friday we went bowling. It only took us 45 minutes to decide what to do!! It was a lot of fun. Kenley was our winner!! It was fun, but I sucked!! Here are some pictures.

Miss Beau!!

July 28, 2007
I took Beau for a few hours to the Meier Family Reunion. She didn't sleep for too long on the way there, so when we left this is what I turned around to before we even left the gate!! She was so tired. It was too much fun for her!!
This is what she did after she spit put her "plug"!
July 26, 2007
It has been 2 months since I last saw this little girl. I thought that she might've forgotten who I was, but she didn't!!!! It was the funniest thing when I walked in and she saw me. She was sitting in her high-chair eating. She got this little grin on her face and tried to stand up. It wasn't as cute as this grin, but it was cute!! So we went outside to play!! She's grown up so much in the past 2 months. She hasn't changed so much in looks as in personality and being Miss Independent!! She's so smart and she knows how to work everyone!! But how could you resist this little thing??Showing off on her bike!! Smiles!!
She always has to take everything out of my wallet!!
She has started to see things in the sky. She was pointing at an air plane.
And this is her new baby brother!!

IKEA, Super Wal-Marts and the river

Saturday, we went to IKEA in Sacramento. It was fun, we just looked around and got some good ideas for when our roommates move out and when we decide to get our own house!! We found out yesterday that they were moving out. Even though I already had some suspicion that they were. Going through the adds and circling things that they want....not very discrete!! Anyway, there is a SUPER Wal-Marts right next to IKEA, so we also went there. It was so nice to be in a Super Wal-Mart. I have to admit that I miss them!! And I have to drive an hour to get to one!! Then we went to the river so that the boys could go fishing. Abe, Junior, Jake and Ubaldo. Lisa was also there to keep me company. I can't fish yet, it's a $100 dollars for a non-resident!! So I just have to wait a little longer. Here are some pics of the boys in the river. And Ubaldo and me in the car on our way home from Sacramento!

Clotilde Merlo Park; Stirling City, CA

On Sunday, we drove up to Paradise. It's about 20 minutes away. We had some brunch and just hung out. We went on a little drive to find this park...well, we ended up passing it and not realizing it. So when we figured that we were going no where, we turned around. And about 5 miles down the road, there was the park!! It was very pretty there. There are 3 ponds and they all have fish in them. At the highest pond, there was a man-made waterfall there. It was pretty. And that pond also had the biggest fish in it!! HUGE Rainbow trout! We got some pictures of them while we were feeding them. Sorry we don't have anymore.
